Job Summary:

The Night Auditor is responsible for the auditing, posting, and balancing of daily financial transactions to deliver outstanding guest service, and to ensure the maintenance of financial controls.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Finalizes transactions completed during the day, ensuring the credit card system reconciles the daily transaction lists.
  • Verifies and posts charges to guest accounts.
  • Organizes and verifies information, identifying and correcting discrepancies; posts accounts; runs and distributes daily reports.
  • Ensures accurate and timely recording of daily outlet totals.
  • Reconciles daily activity and closes accounts for all outlets in preparation for the new day, posting the correct daily totals.
  • Performs daily backups on systems and perform any necessary maintenance when situations arise.
  • Performs close-out procedures, period-end duties, and generates reports.
  • Runs morning reports and backup reports and distributes accordingly.
  • Verifies that all checks are closed, and inputs any additional information and summaries in the P.O.S. (Point of Sale) system.
  • Balances daily credit card postings and transmits for settlement.
  • Ensures proper distribution of daily reports in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the auditing of all charges and postings, correcting work as required.
  • Responsible for Front Desk operations including guest registration, processing payments, handling guest inquiries, and coordinating requests.


Education, Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • 1-2 years previous Night Audit experience required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree with interest in the hospitality field preferred.
  • Superior customer service and interpersonal skills required.
  • Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Must have basic mathematical skills with knowledge in cashiering. Knowledge of accounting operations helpful.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays as necessary.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
