    SPRING 2019 EMPLOYMENT

    The Banquets department is responsible for the execution of all meetings and events indoors, outside, and on the beach. The Banquets team is responsible for working together to assist guests in a variety settings ranging from small business meetings to large social gatherings.  Banquets works closely with the Catering, Conference Services, and Culinary departments to ensure all guest needs are met.

    Responsibilities

    Job Summary:

    The Banquet server is responsible for providing exceptional dining and meeting experiences for groups both small and large. A Banquet server provides positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. This is a tipped position.

     

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Reviews banquet event orders at the beginning of each shift to set up as contracted.
    • Prepares coffee breaks, carts, and stations with appropriate food and beverages.
    • Prepares tables, stations, buffets, and carts as directed for service.
    • Effectively communicates banquet menus to guests in an informative and friendly manner.
    • Communicates meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen.
    • Promotes a positive dining experience, serving food and beverages, fulfilling customer needs, clearing courses, replenishing utensils, and refilling glasses.
    • Delivers alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Opens and pours wine tableside.
    • Assists in ensuring that events are on time.
    • Maintains high standards of safety and cleanliness in all areas of the facility.
    • Clears tables by removing and separating tableware, plates, glassware, and flatware.
    • Checks guest identification for the purchase of alcoholic beverages.
    • Performs related duties as requested by a manager at any time.

    Qualifications

    Education, Experience and Skill Requirements:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
    • Must be able to obtain and retain an ABC License with the town of Long Branch.
    • At least one year of experience as a server required, hotel banquet experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of federal, state, and local liquor laws.
    • Ability to work in a team environment.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with guests and staff verbally and in written form.
    • Alcohol Awareness Certification (TIPS Training), CPR or Food Handlers certification a plus.
    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

     

    Physical Qualifications:

    • Must be able to carry large and heavy trays on a continuous basis throughout a shift.
    • Requires the ability to bend, twist, grip, and stand to perform normal job functions.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
